FAQ's - Therabis

Is giving a product that includes Hemp safe for your pet ?

Many confuse industrial quality Hemp with Marijuana, and are concerned that giving their pet a product containing Hemp will make them high, or cause other adverse effects. This misconception is common, but it is exactly that - a misconception. Read below the facts on what you can expect from including the benefits of Hemp into your pets' daily regimen.

Will my pet get high? – No, plain and simple. While the hemp plant has more than 400 compounds that have potential medical benefits, it contains only trace amounts of the psychoactive Delta-9 THC. As a hemp product, Therabis contains no Delta-9 THC – so your pet won’t experience a high.

What is the difference between Industrial Hemp and Marijuana? – Despite common misconceptions, hemp is not another euphemism for marijuana. One of the most profound differences between hemp and marijuana is psychoactivity.  In recent history, breeders have worked to build strains of marijuana with the highest possible content of THC – the ‘drug’ in marijuana that makes you feel high. However, hemp has been bred to fulfill industrial applications like fiber, paper and nutrition, and contains less than .3% THC by law.

Does Therabis contain Hemp, and is it safe for my pet? – We believe strongly in the power of whole-plant hemp and its nutritional and healthy compounds, so hemp is used as a key ingredient in Therabis formulations. Hemp interacts with your pet’s endocannabinoid system; the central regulatory system known to affect bodily processes such as digestion, mood and sleep. In the realm of veterinary science, hemp is one of the most exciting and promising therapies being studied today.

Is this backed by scientific research? – Yes. Therabis has been researched and developed by lifetime veterinarian Dr. Stephen M. Katz over the past decade.

What if my pet accidentally misses a serving of Therabis? - There will be no problem as there are no symptoms of withdrawal incidence. Simply give it as normal the next day.

What if my pet accidentally eats more than instructed? - Since there are no recorded incidences of overdosing on any of the key ingredients in Therabis – including hemp, there is nothing to worry about. Simply keep your Therabis in a safer place next time.

Are there any allergy or dietary restrictions? - Our formulas are contraindicated for dogs with either diabetes or an allergy to shellfish. Pets with these allergies should not take Therabis. Additionally, if your dog is pregnant or intended for breeding we would recommend holding off until a later date.

Are there any side effects? - There are no known side effects other than the intended effects of Therabis’ ailment-specific formulations—helping to support and promote skin and coat health, mental health and joint health and mobility.

What if my dog has multiple ailments? - Due to the nature of hemp and the absence of overdose risk, there is no reason not to take multiple formulas for multiple ailments. Or, pick your pet’s most pressing issue. Therabis is safe and effective both ways.

Is there a recommended timeframe for use? - A lifetime. Therabis is designed to be incorporated into your pet’s healthy lifestyle to promote overall wellness over time. The formula is currently designed to be administered once a day either morning or night, while the Stop the Itch formulation is best taken at night to encourage a restful sleep.

Are Therabis products tested for quality and dosage? - Yes, all of our products have been rigorously tested at the Bronx Veterinary Center over the past decade. Additionally, Therabis products must pass any and all FDA requirements regarding stability and contamination.
